Nifty Ends Below 15,750, Sensex Slips 66 Points

Nifty and Sensex erased all the initial gains and ended lower after a highly volatile session on June 30.

At close, the Sensex was down 66.95 points or 0.13% at 52,482.71 and the Nifty was down 27 points or 0.17 per cent at 15,721.50.

About 1503 shares have advanced, 1455 shares declined and 97 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Coal India (1.49 per cent), Divi’s Labs (1.20 per cent), Infosys (1.14 per cent), Reliance (1.09 per cent) and SBI Life Insurance (0.88 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Shree Cements (-2.24 per cent), UPL (-1.56 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (-1.55 per cent), Power Grid Corp (-1.53 per cent) and ICICI Bank (-1.44 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, except Nifty IT (0.63 per cent) all the other sectoral indices ended in red. Nifty Bank (-0.68 per cent) and Nifty Realty (-0.43 per cent) were the top loser sectors of the day.

The BSE Midcap index was down 0.03 per cent while the smallcap index gained 0.56 per cent.

Author’s View: Since Nifty closed below its important support zone of 15,750 – 15,800, we can expect some more correction till 15,650 level. Nifty is likely trade between 15,650 – 15,900 for a few days.
