The benchmark indices closed at a new record high on 28 December 2020. The metal and bank stocks led the rally.
At close, the BSE Sensex was up 380.21 points or 0.81 per cent at 47,353.75 and the Nifty was up 123.90 points or 0.90 per cent at 13,873.20. About 1,990 shares have advanced, 965 shares declined and 177 shares remain unchanged.
On Nifty 50 index Tata Motors (5.91 per cent), JSW Steel (5.56 per cent), HDFC Life (3.26 per cent) and Titan Company (3.19 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, whereas Sun Pharma (-0.59 per cent), HUL (-0.56 per cent), Shree Cement (-0.47 per cent) and Britannia (-0.41 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, all sectors except Pharma ended in green led by Nifty Metal (2.56 per cent) and Nifty Bank (1.57 per cent). The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices ended with 0.8 and 1.5 per cent gains.
Author’s View: Nifty managed to comfortably close above 13,850 level which is a positive sign. Now 13,780 – 13,800 will act as strong support for Nifty. If this level is maintained then we can see 14,000 level on Nifty soon.
