Sensex and Nifty closed in green followed by gains in Banks and Pharma stocks.
Nifty was up 148 points or 1.09 per cent at 13,749.25 while Sensex was up 529 points or 1.14 per cent at 46,973.54.
About 1.972 shares have advanced, 936 shares declined and 190 shares remain unchanged.
The Midcap and Smallcap indices closed 0.06 per cent and 0.59 per cent up, respectively.
On Nifty index Tata Motors (3.99 per cent), Axis Bank (3.00 per cent), Sun Pharma (2.76 per cent) and ONGC (2.59 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Infosys (-1.36 per cent), Nestle (-0.89 per cent), Wipro (-0.87 per cent) and UPL (-0.56 per cent) were top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank (1.74 per cent), Nifty Pharma (1.22 per cent), outperformed, whereas Nifty IT (-0.66 per cent) and Nifty Realty (-0.43 per cent) witnessed selling pressure and closed in the red. All other sectors ended with minor gains.
Author’s View: If the current level is sustained on Nifty we can see further upside towards 14,000 level. Every dip can be utilized as a buying opportunity, till Nifty trades over 13,600.
