The Benchmark Indices Ended Green, Backed By Gains In Metal & Pharma Counters

Indices witnessed volatile session but manages to end near the day’s high on 15^th April.

At close, the Sensex was up 259.62 points or 0.53 per cent at 48,803.68 and the Nifty was up 76.70 points or 0.53 per cent at 14,581.50.

About 1226 shares have advanced, 1611 shares declined and 162 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, TCS (3.70 per cent), Cipla (3.28 per cent), ONGC (2.99 per cent), Wipro (2.80 per cent) and Adani Ports (2.64 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Eicher Motors (-3.26 per cent), Grasim (-3.09 per cent), Infosys (-2.61 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (-2.52 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (-2.17 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, Auto and PSU bank indices lost 1 per cent each, while Metal and Pharma indices rose over 1 per cent each.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices ended flat.

Author’s View: If Nifty sustains over, 14500 level, we may see an up move towards 14700 – 14800 zone. The overall range for Nifty would be between 14250 – 15000.
