Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobge asserted that Bhutan is keen to increase green business, tourism, education and cultural cooperation with Maharashtra and soon Bhutan will organise its cultural festival in Maharashtra and Maharashtra's cultural festival will also be organised in Bhutan. He said that the series of his visits to Maharashtra has started and he will come to Maharashtra again after this.

  

Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobge and his wife Om Tashi Doma, who made their first visit to India after becoming Prime Minister in January, were welcomed by Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais on behalf of the government at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Saturday (March 16).


Speaking at a program organised by FICCI in Mumbai, Prime Minister Chering Tobagy told the Governor that he is committed to increase bird tourism in Maharashtra and Bhutan after meeting with tour operators as well as trade and commerce representatives.

He said that Bhutanese people are fond of Indian films and they are eager to shoot Indian films in our country. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that he will visit Bhutan soon. Prime Minister Chering Tobge said that the economy of Maharashtra is the largest in India and there are many well-wishers of Bhutan in Maharashtra. Many tourists from Bhutan visit Ajanta and Verul caves in Maharashtra and many want to come to Maharashtra, he said. Many Bhutanese students are studying in Maharashtra and thousands have undergone military training from NDA. Tobge said that he also wanted to take training from NDA but could not come to Pune due to family responsibilities.


Thanking the Prime Minister of Bhutan for visiting Maharashtra on his first visit to India, Governor Ramesh Bais expressed the hope that as the chancellor of the universities in the state, he would increase the educational exchange between Bhutan and Maharashtra.


Stating that the concept of 'Gross Happiness Index' of Bhutan is very commendable and exemplary, many people of Maharashtra wish to visit Bhutan at least once, the Governor said. Stating that culture and language connect each other, the Governor expressed the hope that the cultural festival of Bhutan should be held in Mumbai and also the cultural festival of Maharashtra should be held in Bhutan.
