The state government, which makes decisions on some issues with lightning speed, takes a back seat while deciding to give financial benefits to the families of the martyrs who have sacrificed for the country. This is not acceptable, the High Court on Thursday reprimanded the state government for delaying the demand of Martyr Major Anuj Sood's wife.

Not stopping at this, this issue is too small for the Chief Minister and he should show magnanimity and look into the demand for Sood's wife. Also, the court also clarified that a decision should be taken as soon as possible regarding the benefits of allowances received by the soldiers without bringing the issue of code of conduct into question.

On the occasion of this case, the state government has an opportunity to do something for the families of soldiers who sacrificed for the country. This is the case that the state will be glorified and pride will increase. A bench of Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Firdosh Pooniwala also clarified that there should not be a single day's delay in taking a decision in this case, the Chief Minister should immediately look into this issue seriously, from a positive point of view and take a proper decision.

The court had ordered during the previous hearing that the petition should be treated as a special case and a positive decision should be taken. However, due to implementation of the code of conduct in the background of Lok Sabha elections and some administrative reasons, the decision in this case will be taken only after four weeks, Assistant Public Prosecutor Pratibha Gavane told the court. However, the court said that these reasons cannot be accepted.

"Do not give administrative reasons for not yet deciding on Sood's wife's demand, also, the code of conduct certainly cannot be a hindrance to the decision. Therefore, the court also told the government that it cannot accept the delay in deciding on Sood's wife's demand for this reason. We are from Maharashtra and the first two words of the word Maharashtra mean big. Therefore, the Chief Minister should show magnanimity and that this is a government that helps the common man, the court said. This is the question of the family of the martyr who sacrificed for the country and got 'Shaurya Chakra'", said the bench. The bench also said that if a positive decision is taken for them, the Chief Minister will surely be honoured.
