A fisherman from Palghar’s Murbhe, Chandrakant Tare was oblivious to the fact that the 157 Ghol fish he caught near Wadhwan in the evening of August 28 which is said to be around 25 nautical miles off the coast of Palghar, would be the turning point of his life, stated reports.

For a colossal Rs 1.33cr, he sold the entire catch to an association of traders from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, on August 15, with 10 crew members, he set sail on his Harbadevi trawler. Word spread about his astounding catch amongst the trawlers on the Palghar coast. Later, the highest bidder managed to get their hands on the catch.

Additionally, Tare mentioned that the money he earned from this catch will be of assistance to him in the financial sphere.

The Ghol fish also known as the Protonibea diacanthus is a form of black-spotted croaker fish and is highly sought after in Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. People also acknowledge this fish as sea gold because its fins are believed to have a medicinal value which is utilized by pharmaceutical companies to curate dissolvable stitches.
