Kumbh Mela will be held in Nashik in 2026-27

The responsibility of the upcoming Kumbh Mela has once again been handed over to Minister Girish Mahajan. Girish Mahajan has been appointed the chairman of the district level committee of the upcoming Kumbh Mela. Guardian Minister Dada Bhuse will have to be satisfied with the post of co-chairman. Chhagan Bhujbal will be given a place in the apex committee headed by the Chief Minister. Mahajan has been given a big responsibility due to the tug of war between Bhuse and Bhujbal for the post of guardian minister of Nashik. 

In the backdrop of the upcoming Kumbh Mela, the government has formed four committees. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is the chairman of the summit committee and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis is the vice-chairman, while Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal and other 8 ministers have been included in the summit committee. Girish Mahajan has been appointed chairman of the district level committee of the Chief Secretary.

Lakhs of devotees and tourists from all over the world take partPreparation of plan for Kumbh Mela, planning of works, approval of expenditure, completion of work on time etc. will be done through four committees. During the last Kumbh Mela, Fadnavis had appointed the then guardian minister Girish Mahajan as the Kumbh Mela minister. While the Guardian Minister is considered responsible for the District Committee, the Rural Development Minister holds the post of Chairman. Every year lakhs of devotees and tourists from all over the country and the world participate in the Kumbh Mela.

Simhastha flag hoisting will start on October 31, 2026, first royal bath on August 2, 2027, second royal bath on August 31, 2027, third royal bath on September 12, 2027, Simhastha will end on September 28, 2028.
