Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Distributes AI Smart Glasses to Visually Impaired students

In the near future, the development of technology will make positive changes in the lives of the disabled and make their lives easier. Artificial Intelligence will be a boon for the differently abled, Governor Ramesh Bais asserted that disability will remain a disadvantage but not a hindrance to progress.


Governor Bais was speaking at the time when 100 visually impaired students were distributed smart glasses based on artificial intelligence technology at Malad Mumbai in the presence of Governor Bais. These technology-based smart glasses, priced at approximately INR 20,000, will help visually impaired students in studying, going to school or elsewhere and in other daily activities. These glasses include lenses, processors and speakers.

One out of every eight people in the world is disabled in some way and two percent of India's population is disabled. To make the country a developed nation, it is necessary to make the disabled self-reliant, said the Governor. The Governor lauded both the organisations for the work done by the Human Rights Commission and Motiha Charitable Trust for the empowerment of persons with disabilities, saying that if they are given the right opportunities, they can perform well in every field.

 

Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and other philanthropists were felicitated by the Governor for providing financial support for the purchase of smart glasses. The Governor also inaugurated the website of the Intentional Charitable Trust on this occasion. Scholarship checks were also awarded to 75 differently-abled students at the event.
