Renowned social activist Pushpa Bhave passes away in Mumbai

She was 81 and is survived by her husband Professor Anant Bhave. Her funeral was conducted in the presence of her friends and well-wishers at Dadar's Shivaji Park electric crematorium.

Renowned Marathi socialist, rationalist and reformer, Pushpa Bhave, passed away, on October 3, 2020. As per reports, she was facing health issues and breathed her last on 12:30 am at her residence in Dadar

Bhave was 81 and is survived by her husband Professor Anant Bhave. Her funeral was conducted in the presence of her friends and well-wishers at the Shivaji Park electric crematorium, in the morning on Saturday.

Pushpa Bhave, an academician and an intellectual, made a mark as an activist by fighting for the rights of common citizens. She was also a part of several state and national level agitations, some of which include Devdasi Mukti campaign, Samyukta Maharashtra Movement, Goa Liberation, and others. She also fought for the rights of the Dalit community and the welfare of tribals.

Jatin Desai, Close associate of Pushpa Bhave told that media that she was a mentor for many and did not compromise on her principles. She always followed the traditions and path laid by popular socialists like Mrinal Gore, and always fought for stood for secular and socialist values.
