Cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar extended a helping hand to Dipti Vishvasrao, who hails from Zarye Village in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. An astute student, Dipti aspired to be the first girl doctor in the village, but her financial condition hindered this dream.
When Sachin Tendulkar found out about this, he decided to help her by paying for her medical education as well as living expenses.
Dipti, according to reports, not only did remarkably well in the board examinations but also passed the necessary entrance exams with flying colours. Owing to this, she secured admission to a medical college in Akola.
However, due to financial constraints, she couldn’t pay her college, hostel and other fees. Sachin Tendulkar found about this through social media and thus, bore the entire cost of her education through the NGO, Seva Sahayog Foundation.
Dipti’s story is nothing short of an inspiration. During the lockdown, she bore great difficulties in connecting to the internet to attend her online classes. Thus, she travelled several kilometres to get a network.
Her remote village in Konkan is difficult to reach, but the cricketing legend liaised with officials from the NGO to ensure that the arrangements were met in a short time.
Dipti Vishvasrao from Zarye, Ratnagiri is now all set to become the 1st doctor from her village. Thanks to @sachin_rt’s involvement!
