'Atithi Devo Bhava' During Mumbai Rains Leaves A French Family Overwhelmed

As Mumbai was submerged with another rainfall tragedy earlier this week, ‘the spirit of Mumbai’ was as fierce as ever. People helping people with no boundary of discrimination is what makes this city special and the people in this city even more special.

A French family was stranded in Mumbai during their visit and they must’ve been terrified with the chaos spread across the city. When they were in dire need of help and some guidance, the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Dadar came to their rescue.

The Gurudwara offered ‘Langar’ as well as shelter to more than 700 people and the Boleslawski family from Paris, France were among those who were helped by them.

The family of five that was traveling from Udaipur, Rajasthan to Aurangabad, Maharashtra found themselves stranded in Mumbai after their train to Aurangabad was canceled. Unable to find a hotel to stay in, the family was told to go to the nearest Gurudwara.

Before leaving for Aurangabad the next morning, the family wrote a heartfelt letter.

"Dear friends, we were lost in the rain and your gurudwara appeared like a lighthouse in the dark. Not only you provided us with a shelter but you welcomed us with extreme kindness. One of our worst experience in India turned to one of the best and we learned a lot from you."

Mumbai Live salutes the Gurudwara and Atithi Devo Bhava was genuinely practiced on that dark day.
