Players of one of the most popular mobile titles in the world, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) were in for a shock last year when the Indian Government decided to ban the game along with hundreds of other China-based apps. However, South Korea-based developer, Krafton, has been preparing an India-specific version of the game for the country due to the game’s popularity.
After making the game available through an early access period, the developer has now officially launched Battlegrounds Mobile India as a free-to-play multiplayer game on the Google Play Store for Android devices. This battle royale title offers a bunch of game modes, game-based challenges, and versatile maps.

The developer announced that Battlegrounds Mobile India touched 40 million pre-registrations since going up on 18th May 2021. The game was put up for Early Access on June 17 and has since seen quite a bit of support from gamers in India. Krafton says that 20 million players tried out the game and offered their feedback.
Speaking on the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, CEO of Krafton, Changhan Kim said, “We at KRAFTON are delighted to introduce BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA for our fans in India today. Designed exclusively for our Indian fans & gamers, BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA will provide a superlative gaming experience. This is just the beginning of a series of new content, collaborations and esports tournaments coming your way, and we will strive to ensure that our fans and community in India can fully enjoy the battlegrounds experiences.”
The developer will also offer in-game perks, including a “Constable Set” for every player of the game. Further, Krafton will send rewards to players’ inboxes when the game reaches new milestones like 1 million, 5 million, and 10 million downloads.
