Such is the global user base of Gmail, the popular e-mail service that any disruption, even for seconds gets blown into a full mode crisis. Users took to the internet since about 10 AM IST to complain about Gmail servers being down.
Majority of the users on Twitter are complaining about them not being able to add attachments to their mails. A quick check on the DownDetector website also shows a spike in the issues. The topic has become a big conversation point on Twitter as the majority of users continue to work from home in these pandemic times.
It is virtually unfathomable for Google's services to be down, so it has provoked quite a reaction from the often hilarious Twitterverse.

It is quite clear the reliance on Gmail of users, who cannot wait to have the service back up and running.
Even on July 1, there was an outage reported for Gmail. However, at that time, it was a much larger outage that impacted almost all Google service and also included Play Store, Google Cloud, Meet, and Drive. At that time number of users, especially the ones using Airtel mobile or broadband service were unable to access the services and send emails, download apps, and more.
