JioMart likely to be integrated into WhatsApp messenger

Ever since the launch of the JioMart, the company is making aggressive strides in acquiring customers and expanding its userbase. According to a report in Mint, as a part of this expansion, Reliance Industries has plans to integrate the e-grocery app in WhatsApp within 6 months.  

For those unaware. Reliance and announced its partnership with Facebook in April 2020. At that time, Facebook had bought a 9.9 per cent stake in Reliance Industries’ digital unit Jio Platforms for a whopping $5.7 billion.

Even at the time, Mukesh Ambani had said. “The synergy between Jio and Facebook will help realize Digital India Mission with its two ambitious goals — Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business for every single category of Indian people without exception. In the post-Corona era, I am confident of India’s economic recovery and resurgence in the shortest period of time. The partnership will surely make an important contribution to this transformation.”

JioMart was launched in May 2020 and shared its plans to offer it services in 200 cities across the country. At the moment, JioMart faces stiff competition from grocery delivery apps such as Big Basket and Grofers on one end and from Flipkart and Amazon on the other. Flipkart too has launched its express 90-minute party delivery while Amazon offers 2 hours delivery via Amazon Fresh.
