Mi India has formally announced the arrival of the Mi 10i 5G in India. This follows the launch of the company’s flagship Mi 10 series of smartphones not too long ago including the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro.

Among the notable features of the Mi 10i 5G is the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset which enables the smartphone to obtain 5G signals. However, given that 5G is yet to make its way to the country, we believe this will only serve as a novelty feature for the time being. Some estimates predict that India could get 5G connectivity by the second half of 2021, so there’s still some distance to cover in this regard.

The Mi 10i will come equipped with a 6.67-inch Intelligent AdaptiveSync display carrying a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Mi mentions that this display will use a 6-step display refresh rate technology allowing it to alternate between 30 Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. Further, the display is also rated to be HDR and HDR10+ compliant.

The Mi 10i also comes with a 108MP rear camera (ISOCELL HM2) which is making its debut on Indian Mi smartphones. This sensor is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor on the back. The front has a single 16MP camera sensor. The company mentions that the rear camera can record 4K videos at 30fps, 1080P videos at 30/60fps, and 720P videos at 30fps.

The phone will be available in 6GB and 8GB of RAM variants while it will be sold in 64 and 128GB storage variants (UFS 2.2). It also carries a hybrid microSD card slot that allows users to expand storage by up to 512GB.

One of the most important aspects of any modern-day smartphone is battery life. The Mi 10i 5G carries a 4,820 mAh battery along with 33W fast charging support. Further, the smartphone can be charged from 0 to 68% within 30 minutes while fully charging itself in less than an hour.

The company also pointed out that the “i” in Mi 10i 5G stands for India and the smartphone has been designed with Indian customers in mind. This includes a partnership with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and Qualcomm Technologies which brings NavIC integration with the aforementioned Snapdragon 750G chipset. NavIC is ISRO’s native navigation system and enables lesser TTF or time to fix and improved accuracy across India including the 1,500 km area around the Indian subcontinent.

The Mi 10i will also offer liquid cooling with the help of 11 sensors situated on the back to monitor the temperature of the device. This works in tandem with LiquidCool 2.0 which uses large liquid cooling chambers to properly dissipate heat and consequently maintain peak performance speeds.

In the audio department, the Mi 10i uses dual stereo speakers while the company also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones. As for durability and protection, the Mi 10i 5G will use Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, back, as well as the rear camera lens to avoid scratches and scuffs. The phone comes with IP53 rating and rubberized ports to make it immune to accidental water spills. However, the phone is not fully waterproof.

The smartphone will be available in three colour variants such as Pacific Sunrise, Midnight Black, Atlantic Blue, and will be available via Mi.com, Mi Homes, Mi Studios, and Amazon India from January 7. Further, the phone will also be available in more than 10,000 retail stores across the country.

The pricing for the three variants are as follows:

Mi 10i with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage - ₹20,999

Mi 10i with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage - ₹21,999

Mi 10i with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage - ₹23,999
