Micromax was once of the top brands in the Indian phone market. The concept of long battery phones and affordable devices was brought in India by Micromax. However, it could not sustain the onslaught of Chinese brands. It did give these brand a thought fight to start with but later was unable to sustain operations.

Now that the sentiment for "Make in India" is ruling high in the country, Micromax is planning a big comeback. What's more? Well, it is planning to do with not one, but three smartphones. As per reports, Micromax has even teased the launch of its upcoming phones on its social media handle.

However, NDTV has learnt that there are three smartphones under the price range of ₹10,000 that Micromax plans to launch in the month of July. As a part of the marketing strategy, the firm is also using hashtags such as #MadeByIndian and #MadeForIndian on social media for its upcoming phones, which are in line with the sentiments that are ruling in the country.

Micromax is not the first tech company planning a comeback. In the past,  many companies have managed to have a strong comeback that too at a global level. Motorola is one shining example of the same.

Does Micromax have the chance to make a comeback? To find the answer to this question, Mumbai Live spoke to Faisal Kawoosa, Founder, techARC. He shared, Micromax is still a brand having equity in its catchment markets. It was the first smartphone for masses in India. Micromax has to make a comeback and the present situation can give it a bit of edge. However, revival cannot be just on emotional sentiments. Ultimately, how strong and compelling the offerings would be, will determine the fate".

We completely agree with Faisal's view that it cannot entirely ride on the emotional sentiments. For now, the details regarding the smartphones that Micromax plans to launch are sketchy at best, but the timing is definitely ripe. We hope that Micromax manages to get its product-pricing strategy for these new products right and is able to capture the market like it once did.
