Sab TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular and longest running comedy shows on Indian Television. However, from the past couple of months, it has been in news because of the protagonist Disha Vakani who is absent from the show from a very long period of time. Lately, there have been speculations over her return to the show.
However, the producer of the show Asit Modi has confirmed that Disha aka Dayaben is not returning to the show. Also, he cleared the air about the 30 days ultimatum by stating that no such ultimatum has been issued as her contract is yet to be renewed.
“We have been very cooperative from the beginning. Since her daughter’s birth, we have been waiting patiently, giving her space as a new mother. But eventually, a show has to go on. Nobody can wait indefinitely. The character of Daya has to come back to Gokuldham society. If Disha is unable to come back because of her personal issues, then we will be left with no option but to replace her. Regarding the said notice, there has been no ultimatum issued. However, the show must go on with all the principal characters. It's time she takes a decision and informed us”, stated Asit Modi
The producer also affirmed that Disha Vakani’s brother Mayur Vakani who essays the character of Sunderlaal (Dayaben’s brother) will continue his role in the show.
