To undertake work on the Belapur-Seawoods-Uran railway line, the Central Line will carry out four mega blocks on the Harbour Line between December 22 and 25. On the day of Christmas, December 25, there will be no services between Nerul and Panvel until 3:00 pm. In total, 164 services will be cancelled on the Harbour Line and 190 on Trans-harbour Line. Also, 209 services from Belapur will be cancelled.
On the first three days, there will be 500 labourers and staff who will work while on December 25, there will be 700. During these four days, the existing Harbour Line services between Seawoods and Belapur will be cut and connected to the new lines through the new tunnel.
According to the railway officials, the first phase i.e. between Seawoods-Darave and Kharkopar is expected to be operational by March 2018.
CR will run 100 special services to ease travelling for commuters on December 25 and morning services on December 22 and 23 will be unaffected.
