With an aim to enhance passenger convenience, at least 32 long-distance trains will stop at Igatpuri station from June 22.  Until now, these trains were only making operational halts at this station. However, they are now going to make operational halts which will benefit the residents of Kasara and Nashik. According to railway passenger associations, commuters have been demanding resumption of express train stops for the past few months amid the COVID-19 pandemic.


On June 20, Central Railway (CR) officials announced the introduction of commercial stops for 16 (or 32 trains) major trains at Igatpuri station. So far, operational halts were undertaken where driver duty changes, refueling and various technical checks are carried out but passengers are not allowed to board.

According to CR officials, some of the trains namely Kamayani Express, Mahanagari Express, LTT Bhagalpur Superfast Express, Pushpak Express, LTT-Shalimar Express, LTT-Gorakhpur Express, Panchvati Express, Rajya Rani Express, Janshatabdi Express, Sevagram Express, Gitanjali Express and Devagiri Express is included. Passenger associations said the commercial stops would also help people living in Kasara, where most long-distance trains do not stop. Igatpuri can be reached by taxi from Kasara via Ghat.
