High rise in temperature is proving to be a boon for Western Railway as commuters are opting for the AC local train more in comparison with regular local trains. In only 10 days, WR recorded a 60 per cent rise in the sale of AC local tickets.

In the first 10 days of September, 9,283 tickets and season tickets were sold of which WR earned ₹49.25 lakh. In the first 10 days of October, 14,921 tickets and season tickets were sold where WR earned ₹69.51 lakh. Where ticket selling has increased by 60 per cent, earnings too have increased by 42 per cent.

Meanwhile, WR is planning to stop the AC local at Marine Lines, Charni Road, and Grant Road stations from November 1, 2018.
