Central Railway adds additional 15-coach local trains

In order to provide ease to the commuters travelling on Central Railway (CR), the railway authorities have decided to run six additional trains endowed with 15 coaches from Monday. 

Two new 15-coach trains will run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Dombivli while additional coaches will be added to the existing 12-coach train. With the addition of six another 15-coach local train, the number of trains running on Central Railway has increased to 22. 

A six-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has been constructed at Ambernath railway station connecting all the platforms while platform one and two have been expanded from the east side. Moreover, a new home platform has also been constructed at the railway station. A FOB has also been constructed at Badlapur railway station too.

Until April 2014, there were 16 escalators and three elevators at Mumbai’s suburban stations. Now, the number of escalators and elevators on Western and Central railway have increased to 112 and 78, respectively.
