As The Centre had launched the scheme to improve connectivity among smaller cities, the list of airports linked with Mumbai has a recent addition.

Air Deccan will be flying from Mumbai to Jalgaon and Nashik from December 23. Hence, the two cities are going to get daily return flight services to Mumbai soon.

The regional connectivity scheme, Udan, places a cap on the air ticket prices at ₹1,960 per passenger for a flight. These flights can be stretched up to tier-2 and tier 3 cities. According to a report quoting Gopinath, some of the initial lucky people will be able to get ₹1 fares as well.

The Principal Secretary, Civil Aviation, Valsa Nair informed that there would be daily trips between Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Jalgaon with a maximum airfare capped at ₹1,960 (per passenger). They will also inaugurate services between Mumbai and Kolhapur by January.

It can be said that the services are a revival of the low-cost carrier Air Deccan that was shut down in 2011.
