Around 43 million COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped from Mumbai airport so far

According to a data by Union health ministry as on Tuesday evening, February 23, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to healthcare and frontline workers in the country has crossed 11.9 million.

Since January 13, Mumbai airport has handled around 43-million vials of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of this, 8.5 million doses were transported within India and 34.5 million doses shipped overseas. Vaccines were transported to 57 destinations, which include 28 domestic and 29 international spots.

Bangladesh received 9 million doses, making it the biggest importer, followed by Morocco (6 million) and Brazil (4 million).

Meanwhile, on the domestic front, Raipur, Kochi, and Guwahati received 2.1 million doses.

According to reports, a total of 18 airlines were involved in the shipment of vaccines. The airlines that transported maximum vaccines from Mumbai:

International airlines include Air India (15 million), Emirates (6.1 million) and Royal Air Maroc (6 million). Whereas, for domestic airlines, SpiceJet (3.1 million), IndiGo (2.7 million) and GoAir (1.5 million) have been deployed.

According to data by the Union health ministry as of Tuesday evening, February 23, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to healthcare and frontline workers in the country has crossed 11.9 million.

A total of 1,19,07,392 vaccine doses have been administered through 2,53,434 sessions till 6 pm on Tuesday, according to a provisional report.

The beneficiaries include 64,71,047 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose, 13,21,635 HCWs who have taken the second dose and 41,14,710 frontline workers (FLWs) who have taken the first dose.

While the countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16, the vaccination of FLWs started on February 2.
