On Sunday, the Centre stated that commercial international flights are to be suspended till 30 September due to the coronavirus pandemic, stated reports.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), based on the recent circular proclaimed that international cargo flights in addition to those authorized by the regulator, will be allowed to function.

Whilst considering individual cases, scheduled international flights may be permitted, mentioned the DGCA.

Since March 23, 2020, to control the spread of the coronavirus, international commercial flights have been suspended. However, as part of the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ special international flights were in operation since May 2020. These flights brought back many Indians struck in other countries owing to the lockdown imposed.

During the last year, India entered an air bubble arrangement with some countries for which restrictions were relaxed. As part of this air bubble arrangement, two countries can operate special flights through national carriers amongst the regions.

On August 30, 42,909 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours. So far, as part of the nationwide vaccination drive, 63.43cr vaccine doses have been administered. The active cases constitute 1.15% of the total cases, with this, the country’s active caseload is at 3,76,324.
