In order to convenience the passengers travelling in Mumbai, the BEST has announced new air-conditioned bus routes.

On Saturday, January 2, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) announced new air-conditioned bus routes for the passengers travelling in Mumbai.

As per reports, one of the routes will be A-370 which will operate from MHADA Colony, Kelkar Colony and is to benefit the students travelling in the area. Moreover, the bus service will operate from 6.30 AM and the last available bus will be around 9:45 PM. In addition, another bus route from Shivaji Nagar junction to Raj Kapoor Chowk will extend till Trombay.

These new buses are to start operations from January 4, 2021. These buses will start at 6 AM from Trombay and the last bus will be at 9.35 PM. Similarly, from Shivaji Nagar, the first bus will be at 6.40 AM and the last available bus will be at 9:15 PM.

Earlier from December 4, 2020, the BEST introduced 26 AC electric buses. The buses were inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at Nariman Point, Murli Deora Chowk.

According to sources, Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Mayor Kishori Pednekar, BEST Committee Chairman Praveen Shinde, BEST General Manager Surendra Kumar Bagade were also present on this occasion. The new electric buses will have a seating capacity of 60 passengers while the buses will be equipped with modern technology which would make them noise-free and pollution-free. Moreover, the e-buses can travel up to 200 kilometres in a single charge.

BEST already has six electric buses which were introduced in 2017. Apart from this, 66 electric buses that are on rent basis have also been introduced. A total of 340 electric buses will join BEST's fleet by 2022.
