From Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will introduce 27 new routes for its buses to ply on in Mumbai, stated reports.
Considering that the travelling patterns of commuters have changed owing to the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, the bus routes have been changed. The focus now, based on some accounts, will be on plying buses through the feeder routes.
It is believed that the attention will be on buses from railway stations in the suburbs that connect to areas in the vicinity. The authority is of the opinion that the new routes will enable the frequency of the buses to improve.
With the addition of these new buses, the authority is anticipating that it will be able to cater to more passengers since outside train stations in suburbs, they will be bringing in minibuses on the feeder routes.
A senior BEST official, according to some narratives has elucidated that the new routes will allow commuters to travel promptly to their destination. On the new routes, the frequency of buses will also be improved and attention will be given to feeder routes that enable ease in connectivity, added the official.
Some reports also went on to elucidate that, almost 2.4 million passengers on an average commute by the BEST buses every day.
