BMC announced the budget on Wednesday. The budget entails every department but excludes BEST. It was expected that budget of BEST will be presented along with BMC but it didn’t happen. BMC has entailed Rs 1 crore fund for automated bus depot and passenger information system. BEST has incurred a loss of Rs 1,062 crore losses in the transport division.
Recommended measures devised for BEST undertaking includes compulsory or voluntary retirement of employees, improving the efficiency of bus services, operations and maintenance.
BMC budget stated BEST has proposed automated bus depot. It will help in improving work efficiency reduce the number of staff and save establishment costs.
BMC also suggested strict auditing and accounting policy. BMC has asked BEST management to prepare a detailed plan and submit it.
