Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that a decision has already been made to purchase 5,000 buses, focusing on an environmentally friendly transport system. These buses are being made available in a phased manner. A single ticket system has been introduced for all public transport services through the Mumbai One app. Higher passenger fare revenue will make BEST financially viable. To achieve this, efforts should be made to maximize this income and a more business-like approach should be adopted. Chief Minister Fadnavis assured that the state government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are ready to empower BEST.

Undertaking to focus on increasing its non-fare revenue sources to ensure long-term financial stability. He suggested that at least 40% of BEST’s total income should come from non-fare sources to strengthen the organization’s financial position.

Decisions have been taken to enhance passenger amenities for BEST, as well as employee benefits. Provident fund contributions and benefit funds during the COVID period have been provided. Additionally, BEST employees received the same bonus this year as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation employees. Chief Minister Fadnavis said that if employees are happy, passenger service will be even better.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that BEST and local railways are an integral part of Mumbai residents' lives. A fund of ₹3.5 thousand crore has been provided to ensure a smooth travel experience for citizens. These eco-friendly electric buses will now ply the streets of Mumbai, where trams and buggies once operated, ushering in a new era of travel. This fleet includes regular long-haul buses as well as midi buses, which will navigate the busy roads with ease.
