BEST initiative will set up 55 electric charging stations in Mumbai

As the number of vehicles running on electricity is increasing day by day in Mumbai, BEST initiative has decided to provide electric vehicle charging facilities to Mumbaikars. BEST will operate 55 electric vehicle charging stations in Mumbai city and suburbs. This facility will be provided at various locations of BEST in Mumbai and also in the surrounding area. Along with this, BEST intends to develop a mobile app option for customers.

The BEST has currently undertaken the construction of electric vehicle charging stations in 24 warehouses. So far, the works of charging stations have been completed at two to three places. BEST buses can be charged at charging stations in BEST depot, while private vehicles can be charged at charging stations at other locations.

Electric vehicle charging stations will be started at 10 to 12 locations in Mumbai city and suburbs in the coming months. Chargers of 40 KW to 50 KW will be provided in the bus depot. Chargers of 10 to 11 kilowatts will be provided for private vehicles. Lokesh Chandra, General Manager of BEST informed that provision of 100 MW electricity has been made for warehouses in Mumbai.

The work of setting up e-charging facility at these places are underway
NCCI, Mantralaya, Museum, Hiranandani Bus Station, Walkeshwar Bus Station, Tardeo Bus Station, Colaba, Backbay, Bandra Reclamation, Bandra East Bus Station, Goregaon Bus Station, Goregaon West Bus Station, Seven Bungalow Bus Station.
