Next year your travel by Mumbai buses will get expensive as the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has decided to increase fare for longer routes, daily and monthly bus passes and school children pass.
The decision was taken by the BEST committee on Tuesday who approved a hike of INR 1 to INR 12 beyond 6 km and INR 20 to INR 220 for monthly passes. This was confirmed by BEST committee’s president Anil Kokil. The committee was not ready for the hike, but the administration gave the reason for losses.
The proposal will be sent to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for final approval.
Along with this announcement, the BEST administration also clarified that this would be a temporary increase, until financial conditions improve.
