Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses will procure 303 buses for the undertaking.
The new buses will have upgraded features which include –
Forced Ventilation
Eight Mobile Charging Points
Enough Room for Leg space for Commuters
Emergency Exit Door
Automatic Gear System
Seatbelt for Handicapped person
Tubeless Tyres
The bus from Tata Motors cost at Rs 50 lakh – Rs 55 lakh each.
“It is a huge task to reach the exit point of the bus while travelling in crowded buses. With more leg space in the new buses, half of our problem will be solved as it will become easier to make space in the crowded bus in order to alight at our spot,” said Sheetal Kulkarni, commuter.
Out of 303 buses, 74 buses have been procured.
