If you're planning to commute on August 7 to celebrate Raksha Bandhan by bus, then you have to plan your commute accordingly. This is because labour unions are threatening to go on indefinite strike from August 7.

They want BEST to give their due wages and to ban on hiring private buses. If they go ahead with the strike, then it will affect 30 lakh commuters who commute from BEST on a daily basis.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, BEST will be running 212 extra special buses considering the rush. These buses will be on road post 12.30 pm and will run for the whole day.

However, a joint action committee formed by all major labour unions including BEST Kamagar Sena since August 1, the BEST Sanyukta Kamgar Kriti Samiti (BSKKS), is on a chain hunger strike outside Wadala BEST depot.
