The 44,000 BEST employees have not received their salaries of the last month yet. As per tradition, they get their salaries by 10th of every month. As the BEST administration failed to issue employees’ salaries, employees unions had given an ultimatum and threatened to launch an agitation. The BMC House also witnessed strong repercussions on this issue.

Mayor informed that a decision to chalk out an action plan to make BEST a profitable undertaking. This action plan will be ready in next seven to eight days and the BEST will be accorded financial assistance as per the plan, he added.
The BEST undertaking spends around Rs 182 crore on salaries of its employees every month. This amount will be given to the BEST but the Mayor did not inform from which fund or department the BMC would be diverting this amount towards BEST.
