Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) wants Marine Lines railway station to be renamed Mumbadevi. BJP MLA Raj Purohit wrote a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in regard to the same. Purohit even met Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister on Sunday in connection with the matter.
In the letter it was mentioned that a 500-year-old temple is in the area, it would be appropriate to rename the station after the Goddess Mumba.
Oshiwara has ben renamed as Ram Mandir station, there are speculations regarding Elphinstone Road to be renamed as Prabhadevi. Whereas Shiv Sena is demanding Dadar railway station to be named Chaityabhoomi.
