Mumbai Metro witnesses over five lakh commuters daily. It has tied up with payment gateway application 'Instamojo' to enable payments by credit or debit cards for all types of tickets like single journey token, return journey token and to even recharge smart cards. This, in turn, will give impetus to cashless transaction.

Commuters will have to scan the static QR code or type the URL at any Metro Ticket counter and enter their card details.
As stated in Business Standard, an official spokesperson from Mumbai Metro said that Instamojo is the technology partner facilitating this cashless initiative where there is no need for point-of-sale (POS) terminal, or installing any payment apps on the commuter's smartphone.
