In the wake of increased crime against women on railway stations and local trains, the Central Railway will be installing CCTV cameras in all ladies compartments and will place talkback machines. Along with this, 24 new services will be introduced by the end of 2018.

In total, 11,160 CCTV cameras will be set up in 155 rakes and one rake will have 72 CCTV cameras.



Use talkback machines in distress

Along with CCTV cameras, talk back instruments will also be placed and for the same, the central board has approved ₹276 crores. In total, 1106 talkback machines will be installed in all ladies compartments and each compartment will have four talk back machines.

With the help of talkback machines, in case of an emergency, women commuters will be able to contact the guard or motorman.


On a daily basis, 1706 locals are active which comprises of 856 locals on CR line, 604 locals on Harbour line and 246 locals on Trans-Harbour line. Apart from this, 24 new services will be added after January 31 on both Harbour and Trans-Harbour line.”

CR aims to complete various projects by end of 2018

The CR is also aiming to complete the work of building FOBs, lifts, escalators, and widening of 36 platforms by the end of 2018. 

Along with this, CR will build one escalator every year end.



36 km long wall will be built

In order to avert rail accidents, a 36-km long wall will be built next to the railway station. Not only this, an emergency medical department will be built on 14 stations. Also, 300 indicators will be placed.

The work will be completed by 2018 December informed S K Jain, Central Railway’s Divisional Manager. Jain added that railway’s timetable will be improved as well.
