According to a press release, on Sunday, January 24, Central Railways in Mumbai carried out maintenance work during a mega block on the mainline between Matunga-Mulund Up and Dn fast lines and on harbour line between Thane-Vashi/Nerul Up and Dn harbour lines.

Moreover, rail renewal of 26 meters and seven welding’s, replacement of rails, 30 Turn out sleepers, one set of SEJ sleepers, two km tamping work has been completed with the Duomatic machine. In addition, boxing and ballasting work for 400 meters, alignment and removal of vegetation along the tracks were also undertaken on both sections along with the work of cleaning of 300 meters of the centre drain.

Meanwhile, annual overhauling and close inspection of 1.2 km OHE, eight cross feeders, four switches and four overlaps were done along with re-tension of contact wires, replacement of 315 meters contact wires, flash insulators, 22 droppers, 32 C-jumpers and the removal of 42 excess C-jumpers. Moreover, provision and erection of nine brackets, dismantling of the rusty offloaded mast, and four DC bracket assemblies were done along with the provision of four bonds and disconnection and reconnection of 68 bonds. These works were carried out with 5 Tower Wagons and 5 trestles/ ladder gangs.

Furthermore, the Railways has informed that replacement of track lead wires, location boxes, signal units, shunt bonds, terminals, link rods and MS pins of link rods at more than nine locations have been done. Moreover, testing of obstruction and correspondence of points done along with the provision of tapper bolts, new number plates of signals and drilling of holes have been completed.
