CR earns ₹1 Cr from film shooting in 2017-18

Popular stations like Wadi Bunder yard and Apta Station earned good revenue in the last financial year.

In the last financial year, the Central Railway (CR) has earned over ₹1 Cr by renting its various premises and rail coaches for film shootings. In the financial year 2017-18, around 16 films including advertisements, a web series, and documentaries, were shot at different CR locations by various filmmakers and production houses.

According to the Sunil Udasi, CR’s chief public relations officer, the CR earned ₹15.32 lakh from the shooting of the film "Gully Boy" (starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt) at the Wadi Bunder yard in South Mumbai.

Udasi added that because of its popular stations like old Wadi Bunder yard near Santacruz station and Apta station (Panvel), the CR earned good revenue in the last financial year.

In 2017-18 the CR earned around ₹1.87 Cr from film shootings while in 2016-17, it was ₹73.93 lakh. Udasi added that compared to last financial year, the CR earned 36.43 per cent more revenue.
