There has been a demand to increase the number of local trains to ensure that there is no overcrowding in the trains. Today on October 9 Central Railway announced that it is increasing the number of daily special suburban services. At present, Central Railway operates 431 special suburban services for staff as notified by Government of Maharashtra. In order to maintain social distancing Central Railway is increasing the number of daily special suburban services from 431 to 453 from 10th October, 2020. There is no change in the schedule of existing 431 special suburban services.

Central Railways has also appealed to people to maintain social distance at all times and wear a mask.
On Thursday, October 8, the Central Railways announced that eight trains are to start operating from October 11. Earlier, it had announced that five pairs of special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Nagpur, Pune, Gondia and Solapur would be running from Friday, October 9.
