Considering the increasing number of commuters, the Indian Railways have decided to introduce 24 new locals in Central Railway. Along with this, the new route will be laid down from Seawood to Uran which will be ready by 2019. This route will be 27 km long with 11 stations.
Currently, the CR has 122 locals which have completed more than 1600 rounds. “Amongst these new locals, few will run on the said route. These locals will be made in Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory. Currently, there are 13 locals which have become old and so we will replace them with 13 new locals,” said Central Railways General Manager D K Sharma.
