Central Railway transports 29.42 million tonnes of Freight during Apr-Aug 2021

This higher freight loading is mainly attributed to initiatives taken by Business Development Units (BDUs) set up by Central Railway at Zonal and Divisional level.

Central Railway transported 29.42 million tonnes of freight from April to August 2021, as against 20.76 million tonnes transported during the corresponding period of last year registering an increase of 41.7% as compared to last year

Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway has congratulated the Team CR and advised to keep up the good work so that the performance is on the upswing only.

Central Railway transported 5.55 million tonnes of freight in August 2021, as against 4.29 million tonnes in August 2020 registering an increase of 29.37%. This higher freight loading is mainly attributed to initiatives taken by Business Development Units (BDUs) set up by Central Railway at Zonal and Divisional levels.

Division-wise Performance

Mumbai Division of Central Railway registered the freight loading of 1.36 million tonnes during the month of August 2021 as against 1.28 million tonnes in the corresponding month of last year showing an increase of 6.25% over last year. Mumbai Division also showed an increase of 18.27% by loading 6.99 MT freight traffic during April 2021 – August 2021 as compared to 5.91 MT during the same period last year.

 Nagpur Division of Central Railway loaded 2.96 million tonnes of freight during the month of August 2021 as against 2.09 million tonnes carried during the corresponding month of last year registering an increase of 41.62% over last year. Nagpur Division also showed an increase of 55.35% by loading 16.53 MT freight traffic during April– August 2021 as compared to 10.64 MT during the same period last year.

Solapur Division transported 2.90 million tonnes of freight during April-August 2021 as against 1.71 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year registering an increase of 69.5% over last year.

Bhusaval Division showed an increase of 12.31% by loading 2.28 MT Goods traffic during April – August 2021 as compared to 2.03 MT during the same period last year.

Pune Division also showed an increase of 54% by loading 0.72 MT freight traffic during April – August 2021 as compared to 0.46 MT during the same period last year.
