In the view of increasing theft and accidents at railway premises, Central Railways has decided to install an additional 210 CCTV cameras to investigate and monitor such incidents for the safety of the passengers.

The installation process of CCTV cameras has started and will be finished by October 2018. Currently, 2,941 cameras are installed on Central Railway premises. Of these 2,941 cameras, 941 falls under the Integrated Security System.

Over the past few years, the number of crimes on the Central Railway has increased. Thus, the railway authorities have decided to increase the number of cameras to remain vigilant and monitor the same.

Earlier, after the Elphinstone Stampede last year, the railway administration installed cameras at 17 stations including 13 stations on Harbour line.
