Sindhudurg is a major tourist district, and Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has directed concerned officials to immediately complete all necessary steps to start air services between Chipi and Mumbai from Chipi Airport.

A meeting regarding the launch of flight services from Chipi Airport in Sindhudurg to Mumbai was held under the chairmanship of Minister Rane. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Aviation) Sanjay Sethi, Sindhudurg District Collector Trupti Dhodamis (via video conferencing), Chipi Airport Director Kuldeep Singh, Maharashtra Airport Company Manager Pranjali Khavle, Executive Engineer Misbah Anwar, and other officials.

During the meeting, Minister Rane stated that the government has approved Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the Chipi–Mumbai air transport service. He instructed the concerned company to take immediate action to commence flight operations. The company has also been advised to consider starting both morning and evening flight services between Mumbai and Chipi.

It was further informed that the process of obtaining necessary security clearances and other required permissions for starting the Chipi–Mumbai flight service is currently underway.
