Soon, commuters will be able to commute from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Borivali and vice-versa. Earlier this week, the state government has cleared the decks for the Mumbai Urban Transport Project 3A.

At present, commuters alight at Goregaon and hop into another train to go to CSMT. Due to space constraints on the Goregaon-Borivali stretch, the Railways are thinking of elevating the road outside Malad station on the west to make space for two additional rail tracks underneath it.

A senior official associated with the project said that they are planning to construct a flyover at a location between Borivali and Goregaon. He added that if the harbour line gets extended, then there would be six lines till Borivali, facilitating the interchange of trains and creating more pathways for them.

In April this year, the harbour line was extended from Andheri to Goregaon.
