Under Operation Amanat, CR RPF Retrieves Luggage Worth INR 2 Crore Approx In Last 6 Months

Under the operation “Amanat”, RPF has gone beyond the call of their duty and helped passengers in need and retrieved and returned their lost or left behind luggage, valuable articles such as mobile phone, laptop, jewelleries, cash etc to passengers.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel are always in the forefront and keep round the clock vigil in safeguarding not only railway properties but also play multiple roles of Life Saviours, Runaway Children Rescuers, Luggage Retrievers and keep a check on narcotics trade via railways.

Besides the core duty of safeguarding Railway property, the Central Railways (CR) RPF under the operation “Amanat” has gone beyond the call of their duty and helped passengers in need and retrieved and returned their lost or left behind luggage, valuable articles such as mobile phone, laptop, jewelleries, cash etc. to passengers.

During the current year from January to June 2022, under the Operation ‘Amanat’, the RPF has retrieved luggage of 689 passengers valued about INR 1.89 crores. Out of these 689 passengers, INR 1.17 crores worth luggage of 354 passengers were retrieved on Mumbai Division of Central Railway alone. These luggage retrieval cases include the articles like bags, Mobile Phones, Purse, Laptop and other valuable articles.

The value of luggage of passengers retrieved on other divisions are:

  • Bhusaval Division INR 28.19 lakh worth luggage of 143 passengers
  • Nagpur Division INR 19.14 lakh worth luggage of 81 passengers
  • Pune Division INR 15.04 lakh worth luggage of 73 passengers
  • Solapur Division INR 9.38 lakh worth luggage of 38 passengers

In the calendar year 2021 also the RPF has retrieved luggage of 666 passengers valued at INR 1.65 crores. Out of these INR 1.01 crores of 383 passengers were retrieved on Mumbai Division itself.
 
These soldiers of the Railway Protection Force also face diverse security challenges such as crime against passengers and railway properties, extremist violence, obstruction to train movement etc. The work of these brave soldiers of the Railway Protection Force can be summarized as Suraksha, Satarkta and Seva and they have discharged their duties with utmost dedication alertness and courage.
