The new service will be will be introduced for the general public on Independence Day, August 15, 2021, and the decision was taken after the overwhelming response received for the Deccan Express which was launched in June 2021

The concept of Vistadome coaches launched by the Indian Railways, across several railway divisions in the country, has been well appreciated by the audience. A few months back, the railways inaugurated the similar vistadome coach on the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express train, and after considering the success of the same, officials have now decided to implement these vistadome coach on the popular Deccan Queen as well. 

This service will also be accompanied with dining facility and will be introduced for the general public on Independence Day, August 15, 2021. Sharing more information, the CPRO of the Central Railways (CR) told the Hindustan Times that the department has received overwhelming response for the concept on Deccan Express and hence the service will now be implemented on the Deccan Queen as well. This will now be used by many passengers travelling between the two cities.

In order to add to the experience, the department has also included facilities like TV for entertainment, oven, juicers, mini-fridge and other facilities which the passengers can enjoy. 

The concept of vistadome coach was introduced in 2017, where the train coaches have glass roof, wide windows and seats with 360-degree rotation. The aim of the service is to offer an improved experience in terms of both facilities and sightseeing. 

Vistadome coaches were first seen on the Jan Shatabdi Express between Mumbai and Goa. Ever since these were introduced in Maharashtra, the board has seen an occupancy of over 90 per cent in merely a month.

The initiative taken under the Utkrisht Project was planned to improve the coaches of outstation trains and the train coaches were given a new look with refurbished seating and other amenities for the public.
