Starting 2022, vehicle users in Kalyan and Dombivli areas will not be able to escape from their violation, as the officials from the twin cities have planned to upgrade the fine payment option by implementing the e-challan system. This will be effective from January 3, 2021 and will help the officials control congestion and identify users who violate the rules by not following the lane system and signal laws.

Demands have been raised by the concerned department and considering the same, officials have marked stopping lines at signals and other locations as per the requirements. Necessary signs have been installed as well, which will help people follow the rules. If they fail to abide the same, officials will be able to penalize the violators.

Information regarding the same was shared in Hindustan Times, which quoted, DCP Mr. Balasaheb Patil who said, “We have asked the civic body to mark the stop line and zebra crossing so that we can start penalising the violators. Presently, there is no marking on the roads where the signals are installed. The stop line is necessary to decide if a person has violated the traffic signal rule.”

Smart traffic signals will be installed at a total of 20 locations, of which, the work has been completed at five locations. Work at other locations is ongoing and once completed the e-challan systems will be activated post discussions and approvals. Moreover, officials expect the marking work to be completed in the next 10 days.
