Elphinstone Road station on Western Railway will soon be renamed to ‘Prabhadevi’. After demanding a change of name for years, the Western Railway finally approved the change. The demand was initially made in 1992 by the then Transport Minister Diwakar Raote.
The state government had approved the change of name in the 2016 Winter Session. After the approval of the state government, the central government also gave a green signal to the proposal. This change will take effect from July 19 after Western Railways tweeted about it and informed the people about the change in nomenclature:

Mobile application M-Indicator used the name Prabhadevi after state government’s resolution. However, the station was officially named as Elphinstone Road, so many passengers were left confused. But now from July 19, the station will be officially renamed to Prabhadevi.
