The Bullet Train to Ahmedabad, prime minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, is all set to run from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) by 2022.

Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority has agreed to give the land of BKC to the state government to build the first terminus.

The Bullet train project, to cost the exchequer an estimated Rs 97000 crore, will run between Mumbai to Ahmedabad and will have a train terminus at BKC. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be providing the funds for the bullet train. This project is scheduled to complete by 2022, according to Railway Board president A K Mittal.

Initially, MMRDA  was against the proposal as it wanted to use the land to build International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at BKC. However, if sources are to be believed, it was CM Devendra Fadnavis who ordered BKC to hand over the land for the ambitious project.

So all you regular travellers to Gujarat, the wait has shortened. Five years from now, you could be taking the fastest train in the country to Amdavad!
